In this Issue

This routine allows you to easily find the last occurrence of a particular character in a string. It is very useful when manipulating filenames. This will be used next week when we continue our discussion of the FTP class.

cFTP class

Public Function FindLastOccurrence(sData As String, sSearchString As String) As Long

This routine returns the position of the last occurrence of the sSearchString. If it can not be found it will return 0.

Sample Usage

    Dim lPos As Long

    sData = "c:\data\1998\filename.doc"
    lPos = FindLastOccurrence(sData, "\")

    ' Will show c:\data\1998\ in the debug window
    Debug.Print Left(sData, lPos)

    ' Will show filename.doc in the debug window
    Debug.Print Mid(sData, lPos + 1)
