Now, onto the fun stuff!

Requirements for this Issue

The source code in this issue is designed for 32-bit Visual Basic 4.0 and higher. As far as we know this code only works with Windows 95. Some features might work with Windows NT. It does not work with any 16-bit platforms.

In this Issue

In this issue we are going to show how to Shutdown, Logoff, or Reboot Windows from Visual Basic. A few subscribers asked us how to perform these functions.

basExitWindows module

This module contains several subroutines that will allow you to perform most of the functionality on the Start Menu / Shutdown option. The subroutines in this module work by calling the Windows API call ExitWindowsEx.

To use this module, just add it to any project you are working on and call the desired function.

Methods

Sample Usage

WinLogout

The above call will logout the current user and prompt for a new username
